Extra double GPOs, a weatherproof outlet on the deck, LED downlights through the living area, sensor lights on the driveway, a dedicated circuit for an oven, induction cooktop or EV charger.
Switchboards and safety switches
Plenty of Canberra houses still run the original board — ceramic fuses, no RCDs. If that's yours, upgrading it is the most useful electrical job the place will ever have done.

What to tell us so the price is close to right
Sparkies price on access and unknowns, not on the fitting. The more of this you can answer, the less padding ends up in the quote.
- A photo of your switchboard, door open. This one does more than three paragraphs of typing. It shows what protection you've got, whether there's room to add a circuit, and roughly how old the installation is.
- Rough age of the house. Pre-1980s in Canberra often means no earth on some circuits and a board with nowhere left to go.
- Single or double storey, and can you get into the roof? A manhole in the hallway cupboard is a different job to a flat concrete ceiling.
- Brick, timber or plasterboard walls wherever the new stuff is going.
- Whether the power can go off during the day, and for how long.
- If it's a fault: what it does, when it started, and what you've already tried.
