Terms of use

Last reviewed September 2026 · Canberra Job Leads

Working draft. These terms describe how the service is built to operate. Have them checked against your final business structure and insurance before relying on them.

What this service is

Canberra Job Leads introduces work to tradespeople. It is not a builder, electrician, plumber or agent, and it does not carry out, supervise, warrant or insure any work. The contract for the work is between you and the tradesperson. We are not a party to it.

What tradespeople are responsible for

Tradespeople using this service are solely responsible for holding and maintaining the licences and registrations their work requires; for their own insurance; for the accuracy of their quotes; for the workmanship, safety and compliance of what they do; for their own tax and GST obligations; and for their contract with the customer.

Verification — what we do and do not claim

Tradespeople give us their licence and insurance details when they register. An administrator checks what has actually been supplied, and an account is only ever marked as checked once that has been done. That means we looked at the documents supplied on that date. It is not a guarantee of anyone's competence, conduct or current licence status.

Customers should always ask to see the licence themselves and check it on the relevant ACT or NSW register before work begins. That is not a formality — it is the single most useful thing you can do.

What customers are responsible for

Describe the job honestly, have the authority to have the work done, give safe access, and deal directly with the tradesperson about the work itself. Do not post someone else's contact details, and do not post a job you are not entitled to arrange.

Consumer guarantees

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including the consumer guarantees. Where those guarantees apply, they apply regardless of anything written here.

Acceptable use

No false jobs. No harvesting contact details. No passing leads on to third parties. No automated collection from this site. No using the service to contact people who have asked not to be contacted. Accounts doing any of this are suspended.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Canberra Job Leads is not liable for loss arising from work carried out by a tradesperson, from a job that does not proceed, or from a lead that does not become paid work. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes and governing law

We may change these terms; material changes are notified to account holders before they take effect. These terms are governed by the law of the Australian Capital Territory.
